Established:

Hope2Happiness started in 2014 when 7 friends realised by standing together they can make the difference they want to see in the world.

Our passion lies with making a positive difference in communities by providing them with a sustainable and realistic opportunity to achieve their dreams and be successful individuals. This led to the start of Hope2Happiness. We believe that by utilizing sport and academics as a community uplifting tool, we can create a tangible difference in our surrounding communities as well as providing an outlet for the youth that may help in keeping them away from other forms of distractions.

In 2014, we hitch hiked around South Africa in an attempt to raise funds by hosting golfing events along the way. Through hitch hiking and passing through communities on foot, we hoped to raise awareness among the group, as well as through the use of social media, of the poverty and needs of less fortunate communities in South Africa.

We visited eight communities along our way to Port Elizabeth, playing soccer at each community, handing out soccer balls and having a decent conversation about life.

Golfing Gloves sponsored the prizes on the last Saturday of our Hiking trip at Humewood Golf Club, in exchange we raised funds for the soccer balls. This 1800km we hitch hiked, with 29 lifts was a huge success and was a great starting point for our platform.

During 2015, we hosted several events, differentiating from soup kitchens, play days at schools, soccer games and clothing handouts.

Our Soup kitchens was a huge success, visiting the Simondium and Vlottenberg communities and a day at the Stellenbosch dump site, was an eye opening experience.

At Vlottenberg primary we enjoyed some quality time with kids handing out lunch and playing some games, sport and dancing the lunch away.

“March for winter” was our second project this year, we walked through the residential streets of Stellenbosch, collecting clothes from the residents, by knocking on their doors and asking for support.

It was a successful day, collecting a garage full of clothes. All the clothes we collected, we categorised in size and age, ready to be handed out on each winter project.

Our first stop was a children’s home next to the du Toit Station in Stellenbosch, handing out the clothes we collected for them.

The second stop was the Vlottenburg Chalets next to the Adamtas road, we enjoyed the afternoon with them handing out clothes, playing games and making friends.

Hope2Happiness gives everybody the opportunity to make a tangible difference in our local communities and bring smile with a glance of hope to each individual.
